The Butterfly Effect - Personal Coaching for Women, Children and Educators
Why Butterflies?
The Butterfly Effect is a wonderful way to propel yourself forward.
To say such a beautiful and delicate thing as a butterfly could bring death and destruction sounds absurd, but according to one theory called ‘The Butterfly Effect’, that is exactly what it can potentially do.
In 1961, a researcher named Edward Lorenz worked on a program to predict the weather on different continents. His predictions were quite accurate. Then, at one point he began to notice his weather predictions were off. He tried to calibrate his instruments to see if that was the problem. It wasn't the problem. What had occurred was the "un-cocooning" and flight of butterflies during a certain season. What came about was the conclusion that the mere fluttering of butterfly wings in San Francisco could change the weather in Japan.
This is the Butterfly Effect. In other words, a tiny change (the beating of a butterfly’s wings) could eventually have a far-reaching ripple effect on subsequent events.
What a fascinating theory! Perhaps we have a similar power to change events in our own lives, the lives of others and even the world. No matter how small and insignificant we are – or think we are – we can, if we put our minds to it, do amazing things.
"If you don't know where you are going, you'll probably end up somewhere else."
- Lewis Carroll
